Donor Opportunities
DONOR RECOGNITION OPPORTUNITIES
All donors to the Open Our Doors campaign will be recognized in our Grand Opening Brochure. Our services – always free of charge – will be used by people from all walks of life and at various points along their journey, who can come together as a single community. It takes a community of equal breadth to come together and support them.
No gift is too small to make a difference as we work to Open Our Doors.
We are pleased to offer special recognition opportunities for those who are able to provide exceptional levels of support for our worthy cause.

NAMING OPPORTUNITIES
NAME OUR CENTER -$3.5 MILLION
A once in a lifetime opportunity, CSC-SCT is willing to honor a donor whose gift will single-handedly ensure the creation of our facility and program. The Southern Connecticut affiliate will be proud to bear the name of a donor or loved ones they choose to so honor, forever linking that name to hope, support and empowerment for those affected by cancer in the state of Connecticut.
NAME A ROOM -$250,000 -$1,000,000
Our flagship center, whose location has not yet been determined, will contain many features common to all Cancer Support Community affiliates throughout the world. CSC-SCT would be pleased to name the rooms and resources that will be part of the warm and welcoming facility that will be our hallmark.
A plaque bearing the name of a donor or anyone they choose to honor will be placed at the entrance to each room, and rooms will be referred to by those names in our calendar and other publications. Donors will also be encouraged to personalize the names born by each room by providing a photo of their choice to be framed and displayed as part of our community.
Library – $250,000
A resource center filled with books selected by our Program Director to provide targeted information, both basics of cancer care and material tailored to our members interests. A computer with internet access and recommended sources will be available for those who need or prefer to research their condition and care in our center, and a reading nook will attract members looking for a quiet corner or intimate conversation.
Exercise Room – $250,000
Significant evidence exists to recommend exercise and appropriately modified physical activities for cancer patients and survivors, and such opportunities – requiring an open and well-equipped space – are a key part of CSC’s core programming.
Group Rooms (several available) – $500,000
Cozy, comfortable rooms hold our support groups, an important component of CSC’s core programming. These rooms will be home to the various groups designed to meet our members needs – groups for specific cancers, groups for family and caregivers, groups for teens and young adults, groups for posttreatment for survivors, groups for those living with loss. Some classes and other activities will also make their homes in these rooms: journaling classes, book clubs, smaller lectures, etc. Each with its own design flavor, it will be our goal to fill these rooms to capacity in the afternoons and evenings.
Kitchen – $500,000
A mainstay of any community gathering place, the kitchen is a hub for a variety of formal and informal activities. Ideal for cooking and nutrition classes, essential for potluck gatherings and other social events with food, most CSC affiliates find their kitchens to be their most popular drop-in spot. Stocked with drinks and snacks, the kitchen is where members socialize, sharing triumphs and disappointments or just thoughts of the day over a cup of tea.
Art Room/Children’s Room – $500,000
A fully stocked art room creates a space for formal classes and art therapy groups as well as a drop-in resource for members to come express themselves artistically – creative outlets are a meaningful and stress relieving activity for many. Our center will also require a room stocked for programs designed for children and families, an important population we intend to serve. These rooms may be separate or combined in our initial facility, but will be distinctive and highly valued areas.
Living Room/Lounge Area – $750,000
A welcoming space with conversational seating and thoughtful amenities (perhaps a fireplace, joyful art, other comforts of a home away from home) designed to greet everyone who enters the building. This room is home to the occasional event, but is primarily a gathering place for community members between formal programs and those who drop in for a little company. This room is your first and last impression of CSC-SCT each time you visit.
Great Room/Lecture Space – $1,000,000
Designed to accommodate our largest programs and public lectures, this room is our most unique and formal setting. Home to parties and performances that appeal to the full membership, lectures by distinguished experts, and other special events, this room will be a destination sought by almost all members of CSC-SCT at some point.
Administrative Offices -$500,000 each or $1,000,000 for the full suite
Perfect for donors who are comfortable with being largely unsung, yet thoroughly appreciated by those in the know. Naming administrative offices provides for the needs of those who dedicate their days to running CSC-SCT, from program management and institutional strategy to reception and facilities management. A fitting tribute to someone who understands the hard work that goes into making all our programs and services possible.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
For donors who feel more connected to programs than real estate, CSC-SCT will be happy to recognize significant gifts to the Open Our Doors campaign by identifying donors as sponsors of specific activities once operations commence. Sponsors will be identified and thanked in our monthly calendar, on our website, and everywhere else these programs are mentioned by CSC-SCT, for a duration of 5 years.
Slightly complicated because our affiliate’s program calendar will not be set until at least six months before we open our doors, some offerings can nonetheless be assumed based on demographic need for donors with very specific support interests. Alternatively, donors may choose to sponsor program areas of greatest need, to be determined prior to opening.
Sponsorship is a meaningful way to convey to members and the community at large your abiding support and solidarity for those facing cancer or its aftermath, in your name or in honor of a loved one.
Stewardship will include an annual report on the program for each of the five years of sponsorship.

SPONSORSHIP OF STAFF POSITIONS
While there are fewer regular opportunities to recognize sponsors of our two key professional staff, this unorthodox sponsorship opportunity will nonetheless be recognized on our website and in our calendar publications. An excellent way for donors to provide critical support for all aspects of the institution, a staff sponsorship is celebrated by those who appreciate the value of exceptional professional leadership in delivering services and developing institutions.
